Abi Spencer sometimes goes by the name of “Paula Deen.” But only on Friday afternoons. That’s when the creative Marketing and Promotions Coordinator becomes the girl bringing everyone at LightQuest ice cream.
Or cookies. Or cake. Or chocolate coated coffee beans. She’s really popular on Fridays.
“My approach is to implement as much fun and joy into serious work as possible. I take my responsibilities to heart but value the opportunity to enjoy myself and help others enjoy their work along the way. Honestly, that’s primarily because my bosses have built a culture where fun is valued in the midst of doing excellent work. We bring that to the table when we work with clients and great relationships are built because of it.”
Fun is paramount to creativity. And since Abi is nothing but creative, from her beaded necklace to her colored markers to her visionary promotional ideas, fun happens. With it, comes precise and inventive marketing ideas, strategic planning, critical thinking, and an ability to step into her client’s shoes. Or, most times, their head.
“I have learned a lot about the dynamics of church and ministry organizations and what they truly need to be able to do their job well. That growing knowledge helps me think like they think and try to be one step ahead of them. The best feeling is anticipating a need before they even have the chance to articulate it.”
Abi obtained her degree in Marketing from the University of Oklahoma and immediately stepped into the Christian media market with exuberance and her own unique flair. Since, she has studied under exemplary mentors who “taught me to never stop fighting on behalf of a client, to think like a client, and to be ever reaching for the next level of excellence.”
And she always does. It’s what she loves. It’s what her clients appreciate. It’s…well, it’s fun.
Her natural-inclination to find the joy in all things goes into every aspect of her life, whether it’s taking a walk or going on a road trip with her husband Zion, training for a half-marathon, or drinking an iced latte with macadamia nut. Life, work, serving God, it is and should always be fun.
